The appointment of Anthony Taylor as the referee for the Super Sunday Match has received disapproval from Manchester City supporters.
What influenced the discontentment is the fact that Taylor is from Wythenshawe which is six miles from Old Trafford.
It is common to all Premier League referees to declare their allegiances and Taylor has been a season-ticket holder at National League North club Altrincham.
Taylor has started his Premier League referee career in 2010 and has dealt with a number of matches involving Manchester clubs during his eight years in the top-flight.
Currently, there are only 3 out of the 17 Premier League Select Group Referees who have handled a Manchester Derby – Martin Atkinson, Michael Oliver and Andre Marriner.
